Electric motors that have sat cool and comfortable through winter suddenly face sustained operation in 30°C+ conditions. Thermal overload protection trips. Battery backup systems drain faster. Check battery backup. If your gate system has a battery backup for power cuts, summer heat reduces battery capacity. Most lead-acid backup batteries last two to three years. If yours is older, schedule a replacement before the summer storms arrive.
Lubricate moving parts. Hinges, wheels, and guide rails all need lubrication, but use the right product. Heavy grease attracts dust and grit, creating a grinding paste. Use a dry PTFE or silicone-based lubricant specifically designed for gate hardware.
